Jordanian Government Launches Series of Projects to Promote Christian Tourism

Sites with Christian connections in Jordan include the shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in Na’our; Machaerus, the desert fortress of Herod Antipas and the place of imprisonment and execution of St. John the Baptist; and Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

Several major Christian sites are undergoing ambitious restoration projects in the country, which also recently inaugurated a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes.
