Responding to journalists’ questions on the presence of accounts at the IOR attributable to Presidents and former Presidents of Latin American countries, the Director ad interim of the Press Office, Alessandro Gisotti, said:

“After verification with the competent authorities, I can affirm that none of the persons mentioned in the article of El Expediente ever had or still has an account at the IOR, or proxy signature on third party accounts, or had — on the basis of the new normative adopted by the Institute — any title to open a position with it. The documents brought as proof are false. The IOR reserves for itself the faculty to take legal action.”
